Credit Union Members Support Kildee’s Work to Grow Economy, Support Michigan Jobs
Congressman Dan Kildee announced the endorsement of the Michigan Credit Union League today as he runs for re-election to represent Michigan’s Fifth Congressional District. Founded in 1934, the Michigan Credit Union League represents thousands of community-based credit unions and their members across the state.
“I am proud to have the support of Michigan’s community based credit unions, who play an important role in supporting our state’s economy,” Congressman Kildee said. “Like Credit Unions, I am focused on providing more opportunity for Michigan’s working families and small businesses. In Congress, I will continue to fight for policies that help small businesses hire workers for good-paying jobs and access capital to grow their businesses.”
Congressman Kildee serves as the Vice Ranking Member of the House Financial Services Committee and has long supported credit unions’ not-for-profit tax status that helps credit unions serve the community. Previously, Kildee cosponsored H.R. 688, the Credit Union Small Business Creation Act, which would have allowed credit unions to make more small business loans, supporting economic growth in local communities.
“Congressman Kildee is a strong proponent of credit unions and a well-respected leader in Congress. We greatly appreciate his unwavering support of the credit union not-for-profit tax status, and his desire to work with us on issues that impact credit union members,” said Dave Adams, President/CEO of the Michigan Credit Union League (MCUL). “The MCUL is pleased to endorse Congressman Dan Kildee in his 2018 re-election campaign for the 5th Congressional District, which is home to more than 500,000 credit union members.”
Congressman Kildee was first elected to Congress in 2012 and is serving in his third term in Congress. In addition to Vice Ranking Member, Congressman Kildee also serves as a Senior Whip. The Fifth Congressional District includes Genesee, Bay, Arenac and Iosco counties and parts of Tuscola and Saginaw counties.
