Congressman Dan Kildee to Distribute 2,000 Free Gallons of Water in Flint

FLINT – Congressman Dan Kildee today announced that he will be partnering with community and labor organizations to distribute 2,000 gallons of free water to city of Flint residents affected by ongoing problems with the city’s water supply. Along with Meijer, Catholic Charities and the United Auto Workers (UAW), 2,000 gallons of water will start to be distributed Monday free of charge to city residents at two separate locations in Flint.
“Access to quality water is a basic human right and I am happy to partner with community organizations to ensure that every Flint resident has access to safe and drinkable water,” Congressman Kildee said. “Over the past weeks, my office has been in touch with local officials to offer assistance to the city in seeking federal or state support in order to address the ongoing water issue. We are also happy to facilitate meetings with federal agencies for technical assistance and to discuss other potential funding sources to make improvements in the water delivery system.”
Gallon jugs of water will be handed out free to city of Flint residents on a first come, first serve basis starting on Monday February, 2, 2015 at 10 a.m. ET. Residents wishing to pick up free gallons of water must show proof of residency. Each household can receive up to four gallon jugs of water.
Flint residents can pick up free water at two locations, including Lincoln Park United Methodist Church, 3410 Fenton Rd., Flint, MI 48507 and at UAW Region 1-D, 1940 W. Atherton Rd., Flint, MI 48507
